Moving: Day One

I don't care how much I prepare, pack, or plan, I feel rushed and overwhelmed when I move.  I just don't know how habitual movers do it.  I can guarantee they have less stuff than I do.  That is the bonus of moving: the purging of all unnecessary items.

Today we got the boys' room and Mel's room, minus the clothes and mattresses, over to the new house.  Some kitchen stuff and just random things got moved, too.  Thankfully, some sweet friends (a fellow co-worker and her kids) came and helped.

I should be packing more right now, but I don't wanna. I'm tired. Of course, about halfway into the moving I want to start unpacking the boxes we have already moved! Dear hubby doesn't quite want me to start just yet.

Tomorrow, we have high aspirations of moving EVERYTHING else with the possibility of sleeping over there tomorrow night.  Those are some high expectations.  We will just have to see.

Prayer for Today: March 16

Heavenly Father,

This week I have heard about so much hurt and so much sickness for those I know and love. My heart is breaking for a mom and dad who had to say goodbye to child way too soon. My heart hurts for friends newly diagnosed with cancer  now forced to face some many decisions,  as well as those struggling to hang on through treatments. You are the Ultimate Physician, and while I pray for healing for those sick, I also pray for peace. Peace that allows them to remember that You are in control, You have not forsaken them, You care for them. I cannot understand for I have never experienced some of these things those on my heart have experienced, but please give them peace.

In Jesus's name,

We Are Moving!

A couple of months ago, we were given the opportunity to buy a house.  This isn't the biggest house you have ever seen, nor is it the prettiest.  The special thing about this house is where this house is located. (Isn't it always the way).

This house is right beside my in-laws on a few acres of land.  The house belonged to my mother-in-law's stepmother (Mimi), who has lived there for over 50 years. Mimi and her family have decided that it would be best for her to go live in a more senior-focused living community.  She offered it to our family.  Now, when I say our family, I mean the three immediate families that make up "US". Out of the three, the house ultimately comes to us.

So, after a few months of paperwork and lots of praying, we have a date: April 1.  Even though a lot of things are in God's Hands, like selling our house quickly, we are moving forward with the move. We are supposed to start packing today. It is March 14.  Yep, we are supposed to have an entire house packed in 17 days. A five (sometimes six) person family needs to be out by the 31st.  EEK!

I hope to post more about our move as we journey on this trip. Any tips would be appreciated.
